cool·er / ˈkoōlər/ • n. 1. a device or container for keeping things cool, in particular: ∎  an insulated container for keeping food and drink cool. ∎  a refrigerated room. 2. a tall drink, esp. a mixture of wine, fruit juice, and soda water. 3. (the cooler) inf. prison or a prison cell.
