clot / klät/ • n. a thick mass of coagulated liquid, esp. blood, or of material stuck together: a flat, wet clot of dead leaves | fig. a clot of people. • v. (clot·ted , clot·ting ) form or cause to form into clots: [intr.] drugs that help blood to clot | [tr.] a blood protein known as factor VIII clots blood. ∎  [tr.] cover (something) with sticky matter: its nostrils were clotted with blood.
