clank / klangk/ • n. a loud, sharp sound or series of sounds, typically made by pieces of metal meeting or being struck together. • v. make or cause to make such a sound: [intr.] I could hear the chain clanking | [tr.] Cassie bounced on the bed, clanking the springs. DERIVATIVES: clank·ing·ly adv.
