cab / kab/ • n. 1. short for taxicab. ∎ hist. a horse-drawn vehicle for public hire. 2. the driver's compartment in a truck, bus, or train. • v. (cabbed , cab·bing ) [intr.] travel in a taxi: Roger cabbed home. cab2 • n. inf. a cabinet containing a speaker or speakers for a guitar amplifier.
