be·stride / biˈstrīd/ • v. (past -strode ; past part. -strid·den ) [tr.] stand astride over; span or straddle: fig. creatures that bestride the dividing line between amphibians and reptiles. ∎  sit astride on: he bestrode his horse with the easy grace of a born horseman.
