fo·li·ate • adj. / ˈfōlēət; -ˌāt/ decorated with leaves or leaflike motifs: foliate scrolls. • v. / ˈfōlēˌāt/ [tr.] 1. decorate with leaves or leaflike motifs: the dome is to be foliated. 2. number the leaves of (a book) rather than the pages.
