Hindustan

Hindustan (hĬn´dŏŏstăn´) [Persian,=Hindu land], historical term, usually applied to the Ganges Plain of N India, between the Himalayas in the north and the Deccan plateau in the south. The term Hindustan has also been applied to the whole Indian subcontinent.
