Description:

Independent, comprehensive, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. Founded 1894. Setting: 70-acre small town campus. Endowment: $1.9 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $3100 per student. Total enrollment: 870. Faculty: 70 (23 full-time, 47 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 18:1. 520 applied, 72% were admitted. 11% from top 10% of their high school class, 21% from top quarter, 55% from top half. Full-time: 600 students, 45% women, 55% men. Part-time: 137 students, 73% women, 27% men. Costs Per Year:

Application fee: $35. Comprehensive fee: $22,280 includes full-time tuition ($15,150), mandatory fees ($370), and college room and board ($6760). Room and board charges vary according to board plan and housing facility.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 17 open to all; national fraternities, national sororities, local fraternities, local sororities; 3% of eligible men and 5% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: Phi Beta Lambda, Students Club, GLOBE, Campus Activity Board, peer advisors. Major annual events: Homecoming, Parents' Day, Olympic Day. Student services: health clinic, personal-psychological counseling. Campus security: 24-hour emergency response devices and patrols, student patrols. 392 college housing spaces available; 390 were occupied in 2003-04. Freshmen guaranteed college housing.
