Oxisols

Oxisols An order of mineral soils that is distinguished by the presence of an oxic horizon within 2 m of the soil surface, or with plinthite close to the soil surface, and without a spodic or argillic horizon above the oxic horizon. Oxisols occur over a large part of the humid tropics, where they are usually heavily leached and exhausted by hand tillage, resulting in low fertility.
