olfactometer

olfactometer A device used to determine the response of an animal to odours. The animal is placed inside the stem of a Y-shaped tube; equal air currents flow through each arm of the Y, one of them after crossing a source of the odour being tested, and a record is made of whether or not the animal moves through the arm carrying the odour.
