migration route Link between two bio-geographical regions that permits the interchange of plants and/or animals. Various types are recognized in the literature: for example, G. G. Simpson's (1940) ‘corridors’, ‘filters’, and ‘sweepstakes routes’ are widely referred to in connection with mammalian, and more recently reptilian, migrations.
