hy·a·line / ˈhīəlin; -ˌlīn/ • adj. Anat. & Zool. having a glassy, translucent appearance. ∎  relating to, consisting of, or characterized by hyaline material. • n. 1. (the hyaline) poetic/lit. a thing that is clear and translucent like glass, esp. a smooth sea or a clear sky. 2. another term for hyalin.
