detrital remanent magnetization

detrital remanent magnetization (DRM) The magnetization of a sediment acquired as ferromagnetic detrital grains become aligned by the geomagnetic field as they fall through the water and become part of the sediment on the bottom of a lake, pond, river system, or the sea.
