1. The wood from an oak tree (Quercus) that has been infected with Fistulina hepatica (beefsteak fungus). The wood has a rich, dark brown colour. Although mechanically weaker than wood from uninfected trees, it is nevertheless highly prized by cabinet-makers for decorative purposes.
