bimodal distribution

bimodal distribution A distribution of data that is characterized by two distinct populations. For example, a bimodal grain size will be characterized by two particle size modes. A bimodal palaeocurrent distribution will exhibit two main current directions (not necessarily opposing directions, which would be termed a ‘bipolar’ distribution).
