self-prov·ing • adj. Law (of a will) accompanied by a witnesses' affidavit for which no oral testimony is needed to be admitted to probate: we recommend that all wills be self-proving. ∎ of or relating to an affidavit that makes a will self-proving: attached to the will offered for probate was a self-proving affidavit and certificate executed by the testatrix, the two witnesses to the will, and a notary public.
