mesolecithal Applied to an egg that has a yolk of intermediate size and strongly concentrated in one hemisphere, typical of Petromyzonidae, Acipenseridae, Amiidae, Lepidosirenidae, and Amphibia. Compare MACROLECITHAL; OLIGOLECITHAL. See also ISOLECITHAL; TELOLECITHAL.
