honev-bee

honev-bee Eusocial member of the family Apidae, whose colonies are perennial. The term is usually restricted to the four species of Apis (A. cerana, A. dorsata, A. indica, and A. mellifera), but sometimes used to include the stingless bees, Melipona and Trigona, which also store large amounts of honey.
