genital plate In Echinoidea, one of the five large plates, aligned with the interambulacral areas, that surround the periproct in regular echinoids and the aboral centre in irregular echinoids. Each genital plate bears a gonopore and one is porous and serves as the madreporite. See also OCULAR PLATE.
