Polyphagidae

Polyphagidae (subclass Pterygota, order Blattodea) Cosmopolitan family of mostly small cockroaches in which the females are often wingless, while the males fly readily. Some species are burrowers in desert regions (sand cockroaches), and one very small species occurs in the nests of leaf-cutter ants.
