Phalangeridae

Phalangeridae (koala, possums, cuscus; order Marsupialia (or Diprotodontia), superfamily Phalangeroidea) A family of mainly arboreal, herbivorous marsupials in which the hallux is well developed and often opposable and the tail is long and often prehensile. The phalangers are distributed widely throughout Australia and New Guinea and north-west as far as Sulawesi. There are about six genera, and about 20–5 species.
