Memphitidae

Memphitidae A name proposed in 1997 by J. Dragoo and R. Honeycutt for a family including only the skunks (Memphitis species), on the basis of DNA comparisons, which show Memphitis species differ markedly from other members of the Mustelidae, in which they are usually classified.
