Caecilidae

Caecilidae (caecilids; class Amphibia, order Apoda) A family of caecilians that are mainly terrestrial as adults. Development is oviparous or ovoviviparous, often with a free-swimming larval stage. Stapes are present. The tail is absent. There are more than 100 species, in localized populations in the Old and New World tropics.
