Vêpres siciliennes, Les (The Sicilian Vespers). Opera in 5 acts by Verdi to Fr. lib. (Le duc d'Albe) by Scribe and Duveyrier. Comp. 1854, prod. Paris 1855, London and NY 1859. Trans. into It. as I vespri siciliani. Lib. Le duc d'Albe was orig. written 1839 for Halévy, who did not set it. Donizetti partly set it (prod. 1882).
