Viaggio a Reims, Il, ossia L'albergo del giglio d'oro (The Journey to Rheims or The Inn of the Golden Lily). Opera in 1 act by Rossini to lib. by L. Balocchi after novel Corinne, ou l'Italie by Mme. de Staël (1807). Comp. 1825 for Coronation of Charles X. About half of mus. used again in Le Comte Ory (1828). MS sources of Viaggio lost until located in 1970s in Rome, Paris, and Vienna, enabling work to be reconstructed. Prod. Paris 1825, Pesaro 1984, St Louis 1986, London (GSMD) 1987, CG 1992.
