Tárrega, Francisco (b Villarreal, 1852; d Barcelona, 1909). Sp. guitarist and composer. Gave recitals in Paris and London 1880, being acclaimed as ‘Sarasate of the guitar’. Prof. of guitar, Madrid Cons. Wrote many guitar preludes, and transcr. works by Granados, Albéniz, Beethoven, and Chopin.
