Seven Last Words of our Saviour from the Cross, The (Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuz). Work by Haydn commissioned by Cadiz Cath. 1785 as orch. interludes to separate the sermons on Good Friday. Pubd. in Vienna as 7 sonate, con un’ introduzione, ed al fine un terremoto (7 sonatas, with an introduction, and at the end an earthquake). In 1787 arr. by Haydn for str. qt. as Op.51, Nos. 1–7 (qts. Nos. 50–6), and also arr. by him as cantata with soloists and ch. (1795–6).
