Rifkin, Joshua

Rifkin, Joshua (b NY, 1944). Amer. musicologist, composer, and conductor. Worked for Nonesuch Records, NY, 1964–75. Taught at Brandeis Univ. 1970–82. Founder and dir., Bach Ens. from 1978. Researched early perf. practice of Bach and also contrib., both as scholar and performer, to revival of interest in Scott Joplin.
