Langlais, Jean (b La Fontenelle, 1907; d Paris, 1991). Fr. organist and composer, blind from infancy. Teacher of org., comp., and choral singing, Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles, from 1931, prof. from 1971. Teacher of org., Schola Cantorum, Paris, 1961–76. Org., St Clotilde, Paris, 1945–88. Works incl. 3 Poèmes évangéliques (1932); Suite française (1948); American Suite (1959); Suite baroque (1974); Progression, 5 Pièces (1979); and 2 org. syms. (1942, 1977).
