Krasner, Louis (b Cherkassy, Russ., 1903; d Boston, Mass., 1995). Russ.-born Amer. violinist. Taken to USA as child. Début Vienna. Commissioned and gave f.p. of Berg's conc., Barcelona 1936. Gave f.p. of Schoenberg's conc., Philadelphia 1940. Leader, Minneapolis SO 1944–9. Prof. of vn., Syracuse Univ. 1949–72. Taught at New Eng. Cons. from 1974.
