Genée, (Franz Friedrich) Richard

Genée, (Franz Friedrich) Richard (b Danzig, 1823; d Baden, 1895). Ger. composer and conductor. Th. cond. in various cities 1847–67; cond. at Theater an der Wien, Vienna, 1868–78. Comp. over a dozen operettas, librettist of others incl. Die Fledermaus. Collab. with F. Zell ( Camillo Walzel) on operettas for Suppé and Millöcker.
