Rickettsiaceae
Rickettsiaceae (order Rickettsiales) A family of
bacteria in which the cells are
parasitic in vertebrate and arthropod hosts; the organisms occur in or on the cells of the host, though not in red blood cells. There are several genera. Some species can cause important diseases, including typhus, and are transmitted by lice, fleas, ticks, etc.
