phacoemulsification

phacoemulsification (phakoemulsification) (fakŏ-i-mul-si-fi-kay-shŏn) n. a widely used method of cataract extraction in which a high-frequency ultrasound probe is used to break up a cataract so that it can be removed through a very small incision.
