neoplasia (nee-oh-play-ziă) n. abnormal growth of cells that is purposeless, independent of the body's growth-regulating mechanisms, and continues after the initiating stimulus has been removed. See CIN, MENS, prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. Compare hyperplasia, hypertrophy.
