aponeurosis

aponeurosis (apŏ-newr-oh-sis) n. a thin but strong fibrous sheet of tissue that replaces a tendon in muscles that are flat and sheetlike and have a wide area of attachment (e.g. to bones).
aponeurotic (apŏ-newr-ot-ik) adj.
