arachnoid membrane
arachnoid membrane One of the three membranes (
meninges) that surround the brain and spinal cord of vertebrates. It lies between the
pia mater and the
dura mater. The arachnoid membrane is very delicate and carries
cerebrospinal fluid, which sustains and cushions the nervous tissue.
