C cell
C cell (parafollicular cell) Any one of a group of cells in vertebrates that are derived from the terminal pair of gill pouches. In mammals these cells are incorporated into the
thyroid and
parathyroid glands. In other vertebrates they occur mainly in the lung and the paired
ultimobranchial bodies.
