dermatitis A lesion or inflammation of the skin; many nutritional deficiency diseases include more or less specific skin lesions (e.g.
ariboflavinosis,
kwashiorkor,
pellagra,
scurvy), but most cases of dermatitis are not associated with nutritional deficiency, and do not respond to nutritional supplements.
