5‐hydroxytryptamine

5‐hydroxytryptamine (5HT) Also called serotonin. A neurotransmitter amine synthesized from the amino acid tryptophan, also formed in blood platelets; it acts as a vasoconstrictor. Found in plantains and some other foods, but metabolized in the intestinal mucosa.
