TAGLISH, also Mix-Mix. An informal name for a mixture of TAGALOG and English, as used in the Philippines and particularly in Manila and the island of Luzon: ‘Pwede kayong magbayad three months after arrival. Pwede pang i-extend up to two years ang payment. At sa pinakamababang interest rate pa’ (quoted by Lily V. Kapili, English Today 16, Oct. 1988) [Translation: ‘It is possible to pay three months after arrival. It is possible to extend payment up to two years. And the interest rate is the lowest.’ Pwede is from Spanish puede it is possible].
