epi-

epi- prefix repr. Gr. epi-, before an unaspirated vowel ep-, before an aspirated vowel eph-, a use of the adv.-prep. epí on, upon, over, close up in time or space, in addition (to) = Skr. ápi moreover, also, at, in (rel. to L. ob towards, against, in OL. around, near).
