moral Moral Majority the name of a political movement of evangelical Christians, founded in the US in 1979 by the Reverend Jerry Falwell, that advocates an ultra-conservative political and social agenda, especially on issues such as abortion and religious education. The choice of name may have been influenced by the title of Westley and Epstein's book The Silent Majority (1969).
Moral Rearmament an organization founded by the American Lutheran evangelist Frank Buchman (1878–1961) and first popularized in Oxford in the 1920s (hence until about 1938 called the Oxford Group Movement). It emphasizes personal integrity and confession of faults, cooperation, and mutual respect, especially as a basis for social transformation.
