corporations have neither bodies to be punished nor souls to be damned a large organization, unlike a private individual, can act unjustly or highhandedly without fear of being brought to account. The saying is recorded from the mid 17th century, and is said to have been the view of the judge Sir Roger Manwood (1524/5–92).
