Lecter, Hannibal

Lecter, Hannibal the psychopathic genius who is the serial-killer anti-hero of The Silence of the Lambs (1988, film 1991) and other books by Thomas Harris (1940– ). Dr Lecter is otherwise known as Hannibal the Cannibal, and his ‘I'm having an old friend for dinner’ is to be taken in its literal sense.
