polytetrafluoroethene

polytetrafluoroethene (PTFE) Chemically inert, solid plastic, known also by the trade names Teflon and Fluon. PTFE is used as a heat-resistant material for heat-shields on spacecraft, as a non-stick coating on cooking utensils and as a lubricant. PTFE is stable up to c.300°C (572°F).
