electric current. A charge that does not move is called a
static charge and creates
static electricity. Electric charges (measured in coulombs) are either positive or negative. They can be stored on insulated metal spheres (
Van de Graaff generator), insulated plates (
capacitor) or in chemical solutions (electric
battery).
