Yahweh
Yahweh Personal name of the God of the ancient Israelites of the
Old Testament. God revealed His name to
Moses when He called to him out of the burning bush at Mount Horeb (Sinai) (Exodus 3:14). In Hebrew, it was made up of four consonants, YHWH, and was apparently related to the Hebrew verb ‘to be’. Most English translations render it as ‘I am’. See also
