Trajan
Trajan (ad 53–117) Roman Emperor (98–117), b. Spain. He distinguished himself as a general and administrator and was made junior co-emperor by Nerva in 97. With army support, he became Emperor on Nerva's death. He conducted major campaigns in
Dacia (101–102, 105–106) and against the people of
Parthia (113–117), enlarging the
Roman Empire to its greatest extent.
