Sanger, Frederick
Sanger, Frederick (1918– ) English biochemist who became the first person to receive two Nobel Prizes for chemistry. He gained the first in 1958 – for finding the structure of
insulin. His second prize came in 1980 (shared with the US molecular biologists Walter Gilbert and Paul Berg) – for work on the chemical structure of
nucleic acids.
