Russell, Ken

Russell, Ken (1927– ) English film director. Russell's debut feature film was French Dressing (1963). His adaptation of Women in Love (1969) established his reputation for extravagence and controversy. The Music Lovers and The Devils (both 1971) reinforced this perception. Other films include Tommy (1975), Altered States (1980), and Gothic (1987).
